In September 2025, Amsterdam Urban Developments acquired three adjoining properties at Javastraat 103–109 in the Indische Buurt, totaling approximately 1,200 m². Dating back to 1912, the complex is situated on freehold land and comprises seventeen units: four commercial spaces on the ground floor and thirteen residential units. At the time of purchase, some of the residential units were vacant, while others were tenanted.
Amsterdam Urban Developments carried out a complete restoration of the building’s foundations, securing the structural integrity of the complex for the long term—a prerequisite for any meaningful renovation of the rest of the building. Subsequently, the complex was legally subdivided (cadastral split) under the company’s own management.
The vacant residential units were renovated, featuring new kitchens and bathrooms, while preserving characteristic details such as the original stained-glass windows. These units have since been sold individually; the tenanted units remain in the portfolio for the time being and will be upgraded as they become vacant. The commercial ground-floor space was completely stripped and fitted with a new storefront facade. AUD aims to lease this space to a retailer that aligns with the character of Javastraat—a vibrant shopping street in Amsterdam-Oost.
