Oude Haven van Huizen

On the current site of Coronel Kartracing on Havenstraat in Huizen, Doniger Urban Developments is developing a new residential neighbourhood by the Old Harbour. Doniger is a co-owner of the land and acts as the development manager. The site, currently home to the karting track and a range of activities for children and adults, will accommodate 159 homes: 53 social rental homes, 39 mid-market homes and 67 private-sector homes.

The apartment buildings will be positioned around the edges of the site. On the Wolfskamer side, there will be a three-storey apartment building with a pitched roof. Along Havenstraat, building heights will rise to four storeys with rotated pitched roofs, above lively ground-floor spaces for shops and amenities.

The inner area will provide space for greenery and ground-level homes, including back-to-back townhouses that echo the characteristic forms of the Botterwerf boatyard. The Du Crocq building, a locally listed heritage building dating from 1955, will be restored, extended with a new upper floor and converted into affordable homes, including for people entering the housing market.

The planning document was prepared in December 2025 and discussed by the municipal council’s committee for the built environment in September 2026. A municipal decision is expected in late 2026. Construction is expected to begin in late 2028.
