Doniger Urban Developments and Camelot Real Estate sign turnkey realization agreement with Plegt-Vos
28 August 2020

Recently, Doniger Urban Developments and Camelot Real Estate signed the Turnkey Realization Agreement with Plegt-Vos for the transformation of the former tax office on the Flierbosdreef in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The vacant building will undergo a complete transformation into a residential complex with 397 homes and associated facilities. The development combination Doniger Urban Developments / Camelot Real Estate is working together with De Loods Architecten, Plegt-Vos and the Municipality of Amsterdam for this purpose.

397 studios and apartments

In the 16,500 m² former office building at Bijlmerplein 395 and Flierbosdreef 2-12, 397 independent homes will be built, partly studios and partly two-room apartments. 80% of these are intended for the social segment, 20% will be marketed as mid-segment rental homes. To make this possible, the building will be given two extra floors. In addition, there will be a spacious lobby where residents can meet each other and there will be central functions such as a launderette and a bicycle shed for approximately 800 bicycles. On the ground floor, spaces will be created for additional commercial spaces. At the moment, there are already several shops, an Amsterdam Public Library branch and the Hostelle hotel located in the building. These can remain open during the construction work.

More excitement in the area

Jos Kellenaers on behalf of Camelot Real Estate: “We have looked at how the redevelopment of this building can make a positive contribution to the ArenAPoort area. In addition to increasing the supply of rental properties for groups with lower incomes, the presence of these homes ensures more potential customers for the commercial entrepreneurs in the area. The occupancy of the building also brings 24/7 excitement and liveliness. As a result, the transformation not only contributes to a more attractive building, but also to a more attractive environment.”

Klaartje Molthof on behalf of Plegt-Vos: “Amsterdam Zuidoost is an area that is in full development and as Plegt-Vos we are very familiar with this area. We previously developed and realised more than 1,200 student homes and several hundred homes for young people. We therefore feel very involved in the area and are proud that with this transformation we can once again contribute to the realization of suitable residences in Amsterdam Zuidoost”.

Planned delivery second half of 2022

The work will start in the fourth quarter of this year, delivery is planned for the second half of 2022. In collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam, an Accessibility, Quality of life, Safety and Communication Plan will be drawn up to keep the location accessible, liveable and safe during the transformation. There will also be a point of contact for local residents during construction.
