Amsterdam July 1st 2019. Doniger Urban Developments has recently purchased the building Noordkaap and its surrounding plots in Amsterdam. This building, with a size of 6,000 m2 is located on 316-340 Hilversumstraat and has been leased long-term to the Salvation Army.

The Noordkaap is the largest branch of the Salvation Army in the Netherlands. In 2017, after extensive renovations, 70 independent studio flats were realised for participants who are resocializing and on behalf of crisis care for families. The Noordkaap also offers facilities to the neighbourhood, like ‘Bij Bosshardt’, a neighbourhood support centre, a second hand clothes shop and an adventure club for kids.

Astrid Sijmonsbergen, director of development at Doniger Urban Developments:

” We are very happy that this building, with such an important social function for Amsterdam, could be added to our investment portfolio. In close consultation with Amsterdam’s city council and other stakeholders in the area, we are committed to realising new housing development on the surrounding plots, that will meet the growing demand for housing and fit into the council’s targets. It’s a special location in North Amsterdam, located centre-side of the the ring-road A10 and about 6 km from the Central Station and the Dam.”

Appelhoven Real Estate advisors established the transaction on behalf of the purchaser, and worked closely with HMK Notaries, DLA Piper and PwC who were involved on behalf of the vendor.
